About Winston Battery
Winston Battery originates from the founding team of Thunder Sky Battery, established in 1998. It is one of the world's earliest pioneers in the research, development, and industrialization of ultra-large-capacity water-based lithium-yttrium phosphate (LYP) batteries.
Since its inception, Winston Battery has consistently followed an independent and original technology path, placing safety as the core design principle and using extreme operating environments as the ultimate validation standard. This philosophy has driven the global energy storage industry toward higher reliability and long-term sustainability.
Technology Origins (1994–2001)
-
1994 – The founding team began early exploration of high-safety, lithium electrochemical systems.
-
1998 – Thunder Sky Battery was officially established, becoming one of the earliest companies in China to focus on large-capacity lithium battery research.
-
2001 – Selected for China's national 863 Program, the team established the National 863 Lithium Power Battery R&D Center in Shenzhen.
→ This period laid the scientific foundation of today's LYP technology architecture.
The Era of Ultra-Large-Capacity Batteries (2005–2011)
-
2005 – Successfully industrialized 1000Ah water-based lithium battery cells, exporting products to 53 countries, becoming one of the first companies worldwide to mass-produce kilo-ampere-hour cells.
-
2007–2009 – Technology licensing cooperation with CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery) for 160Ah products and GBS for 100Ah products.
-
2008 – China's first emergency energy storage vehicle adopted Thunder Sky batteries.
-
2009 – Developed the world's first 10,000Ah water-based LYP battery cell, a milestone achievement in the industry.
-
2011 – Established the Winston Global Energy Research Center at the University of California,Riverside, focusing on fundamental materials research.
→ This phase established Winston Battery's global leadership in ultra-large-capacity water-based lithium batteries.
